about

“The moon shines in
all its brilliance and
lights up the sky.” This
excerpt from an old
musical form called
“mouashahat” is part
of the heritage of the
city of Aleppo. The
musicians sketch an
image of their city, which
is now devastated. The
group gives a modern
interpretation of the
song while retaining
the spirit of the original
music. Tammam, Tareq
and Khaled met each
other in the halls of the
Aleppo Conservatory.
Their common musical
interests quickly led
them to create a band
together. Since they left
Syria, the musicians
have been separated but
they continue to play
together in Belgium
under the name Wajd
Band.
