about

This composition,
written some twenty
years ago, symbolizes
renewal. Very often,
a person has to make
a completely new
beginning in life.
Although Bassel’s
intention was not to focus
on his own personal case,
his life has truly been
characterized by new
starts; his entire career
has been punctuated
by them since,
after studying in
Damascus, he moved
successively to Russia,
back to Syria, to Egypt
and to Turkey and lastly,
now, to Belgium.
